- The key to this win was clearly the running of Tanner Solarczyk. All night long, Solarczyk was able to break arm tackles and have tons of yards after contact. The Richland coaching staff reported to us that he came up with 186 yards. They were able to ride him in the second half to a victory. We thought Solarczyk was a good player, we had no idea he is this good.
- Richland's Kyle Flick was sorely missed. Obviously Flick was the leading receiver in the area going into the game. He also was a big time cover corner. He makes a difference, but Richland's depth and versatility made sure that would not be a problem. Luke Shertzer came up with huge plays on both sides of the ball, and Solarczyk took over the offense.
- It was good to see Dustin Belskey back out there for the Crushers. He was still not 100%, but McCort was happy to have his services running the ball. He will eventually be a two way player and help tremendously during the stretch run.
- Fireworks and Football? UPJ"s homecoming had a fireworks display throughout much of the third quarter of the game. The score was 3-3 at the time, and more fireworks were happening off the field, than on it.
- Atmosphere was outstanding. Both student sections were loud and proud. The stands were filled on either side. Standing room all around the track.
- We are not sure the last time Richland beat Bishop McCort on their home field. Richland had two recent victories over Bishop McCort (07,11) and they were both at the Point Stadium.
- Bishop McCort's lack of speed is unusual. For many years the Crushers had a breakaway threat whether it was Wilson,LaRue,Domonkos,Varga,Lewis, or Hawkins...They could bust a big play at any time. They do not have that breakaway threat with this team.
- Richland's junior class is good. Shaffer,Pecora,Solarczyk, and Flick headline the talented junior class for Richland. They have big expectations for the rest of this season, and for next year.
- Both teams can make some good runs in the playoffs. Richland appears to be the favorite in AA, and Bishop McCort will benefit from these tight losses to Somerset and Richland come playoff time.
