Year One Review from the D6SN.

It was a wild and fun ride covering games this season with the D6 Sports Network. Dan DeFrances asked me back in the Spring if I wanted to broadcast football games live, and I immediately jumped on board. I had no idea what we were getting into, but I found this opportunity to cover football games live to the people in the District Five and Six region was an unbelievable idea. We found our way around the whole region stretching from Woodbury in Bedford County to Clymer in Indiana County. We got to see some tremendous athletes, facilities, and proud towns and teams. It was an honor to cover the games, and we would like to make things better for the future.

Some improvements we are looking to bring would be a scoreboard up on the broadcast. Dan is really good at technical things, and he would love to go off the air and coordinate the broadcast. Clearly I would need a broadcast partner in this, and that is something we can address in the summer. Also, more focus to having a halftime show with score updates and observations from our first half. Also, we like traveling around all over the place, and perhaps a tentative schedule to be released early in the season. To make things like this, we need sponsors in place all season long. Obviously any money covers our day to to day costs, but it would allow us to put money into equipment and thus making a better product. It would also cover costs come playoff time, because those games are expensive. The thought of advertising with us benefits two ways, it gets your business an easy way to advertise, but also it is like giving money to the schools to have the players showcased. The ability to cover these games only generates exposure to the local athlete, and hopefully opens up more doors for colleges to see how our local players really are. We will begin in the summer hoping to land sponsors from Johnstown, Altoona, Bedford, Somerset, Indiana, State College, and every little town in between. We want this thing to grow as best as possible, and it goes further than game broadcasts. We would like to add some contributors to add content to the website. I am more than happy to write the weekly LHAC write ups, but doing one for the other four conferences is not always feasible with my contributions I make to Cardiachill.com. So if you think you can add content in that regard, please contact us. If your business would like to become a sponsor, we would love to sit down and meet with you. If you have any idea or sales pitch to us, we would be more than happy to hear about it.

Dan and myself had a tremendous run this season, and would love to keep things going.   We have built friendships and contacts all over the area. The D6 Sports Network has a world of potential, and this is only the beginning, we hope each and every year it can continue to progress.

So for the fans, viewers, and sponsors, thank you for making us what we are today. For the coaches and players, thank you for allowing us to exclusive interviews and practices, and for always making us feel welcomed. Thank you to the Athletic Directors and staffs at every respective school for allowing us to be there, and lending a helping hand. Thank you to other media outlets for any advice or encouraging words, it is truly appreciated. And a huge thanks to both of our families and all of friends that have helped us get this off the ground. We are literally nothing without their help. Again, thanks to anyone we missed.
