Couch Potato's guide September 1st-4th.

Basically this weekly feature will be a guide to the Ten Best Football games each weekend on TV. This could be either college or Pro.  As a Pitt season ticket holder, I sometimes miss College Football Saturdays at home. But to me there is nothing better than kicking back and watching some games after a long week, and I'm here to tell you what games you should watch.

So here are the "can't miss" games of the week.

10. UNLV at Wisconsin Thursday 8:00 ESPN.
Well here it is everybody, Football is back.  This will be ESPN's official opening game.  UNLV isn't all that great, but the Badgers are primed up for a big run. Russell Wilson will make his debut at Camp Randall.  And how can you miss a tradition like this......

9. BYU at Ole Miss  Saturday 4:45 ESPN
BYU's first game as an independent sends them to SEC country. Ole Miss is not the marquee SEC school, but it will still be a challenge for BYU.  Hey its not like there will be anything better on at 4:45?  Right?

8. Tulsa at Oklahoma  Saturday 8:00 FX.
Football on FX?  Worth a shot I guess? Not that anyone will be watching this game with the other 8 o'clock games going on. I suppose if you are bored enough, and want to see Oklahoma put up 60 plus points, than this is the game for you.

7. Minnesota at USC Saturday 3:30 ABC
Well Minnesota basically has no chance, but its always fun watching USC play.  Who knows, maybe the Gophers can keep things interesting, but Barkley will lead the boys, and is a dark horse to be the number 1 overall pick in April's draft.

6. Marshall at WVU Sunday 3:30 ESPN.
Who doesn't like a good ole in-state rivalry to start the year?  Marshall gave the 'Eers quite a scare last year.   And Coach Dana Holgorsen will be making his West Virginia debut, and its the only game on to watch on Sunday.  Sounds like a perfect afternoon game to watch.

5. TCU at Baylor Friday 8:00 ESPN
Not the biggest fan of college Football on Friday nights, but if you are stuck by a tv than you will luck out this Friday. Baylor Quarterback, Robert Griffin III is worth watching by himself.  The guy is a freak, and if he played at Texas, he would be dubbed the next Vince Young and would be a Heisman front runner. Oh and TCU is always really, really good.

4. South Florida at Notre Dame Saturday 3:30 NBC.
This is an intriguing match up, and it should be a good one.  South Florida is one of the favorites to win the Big East, and Notre Dame has high expectations themselves.  Will the Irish be looking ahead to Michigan next week?  And Will South Florida be able to make noise in the state of Florida?  Keep an eye on the Bulls' QB BJ Daniels.  The guy will be running around all game long trying to make plays.

3. Miami at Maryland Monday 8:00 ESPN.
Well this should just be a must watch because we have no clue what Miami team will show up?  They will be dealing with suspensions and guys being kicked off the team after the offseason scandals.  Can anyone really say they are surprised the Hurricane players were being paid? Either way, Maryland will take a shot at the Canes on primetime.  It will be a big game in College Park.  Plus its a Monday Night, what else are you going to be watching?

2. Boise State vs. Georgia (Georgia Dome) Saturday 8:00 ESPN.
The Broncos again will be taking the spotlight on opening weekend, at another "neutral site."  I doubt you will see much Bronco blue in Atlanta this night.  Georgia may finally have a chance at an SEC Championship. and Quarterback Aaron Murray looks like a solid player.  Kellen Moore's Heisman hopes and Boise's title hopes begin here, and we can only hope they wear these helmets again.   These things are sick...

1. LSU vs. Oregon (Cowboys Stadium) Saturday 8:00 ABC.
This game is a Texas sized battle, no wonder they chose Dallas to host it.  The general assumption is that the SEC has the most speed in the country, well LSU will have a good look at a very fast Oregon team.  Darron Thomas and LaMichael James can take it to the house any play.  Certainly a great matchup for the tough LSU defense.  You can't go wrong with this game or the Boise State game. But the biggest question going into this game,  What uniforms will Oregon pull out?  Great way to kick off College Football.  Enjoy everybody.
