Couch Potato's Guide September 15-19

10. Auburn at Clemson Saturday 12:00 ABC
Auburn has not lost a Football game since November 27, 2009. They barely survived Utah State and Mississippi State, but hey a win is a win.  Right?  Clemson is coming off a hard fought win over.....Wofford?  Well either way, Clemson will have a packed house. Auburn will probably slip away with another close win. predictable, but still worth watching.

9. Stanford at Arizona Saturday 10:45 ESPN
Well sometimes you just aren't quite ready for football Saturday to end, and usually the West Coast will give you that one late game to satisfy your cravings.  Stanford has Andrew Luck, watching him is worth tuning in.  Arizona's QB Nick Foles can also throw the ball.  Arizona will have a big crowd on hand, and Stanford better be on upset alert.  This will not be an easy game.

8. LSU at Mississippi State Thursday 8:00 ESPN
Mississippi State lost to Auburn by an inch, literally. They got stuffed on the one yard line.  Ouch.   LSU looks the part of legitimate championship contender.  This is the only game on TV on Thursday and you should tune in.  1. To see if LSU is really a contender and can take the pressure that comes with it and 2. If Mississippi State is really competitive in the SEC, and thirdly to see how poorly Les Miles will handle a close game, and still win anyway.

7. Utah and BYU Saturday 9:15 ESPN2
The Holy War.   The name alone tells how serious these people from Utah are about their football. For a very religious state, these teams really do not like each other. Both teams are coming off of devastatingly close loses and both teams are pretty good.  This has the makings of being one of the better games of the weekend.

6. Chargers at Patriots Sunday 4:15 CBS
Tom Brady threw for 517 yards on Monday Night Football.....Wait what?! The guy is the best in the business, period.  Its hard to find a flaw in his game. The Patriots are poised for another big season anyway you look at it, like it or not.  The Chargers looked good in their first game and look to forget about last year. They have one of the league weirdest distinctions ever.  They led the NFL in offense and defense last season, and didn't make the playoffs.  I can't even begin to fathom how that even happens. Oh and Phillip Rivers is a pretty good QB, too.  Could be a potential AFC Title game. So watch!

5. Tennessee at Florida Satirday 3:30 CBS
I really wish Kiffin and Meyer were still the coaches here.  That would make this rivalry so much better.  They hated each other, it was great.  But the game still has some luster.  Tennessee is coming off a convincing win over a desent Cincinnati team, and Florida is Florida.  Charlie Weis gets his crack at running a college offense, without having to run a college program.  The guy wasn't a head coach, but the dude knows his offense.  Only good things to come for the Gators.

4. Michigan State at Notre Dame 3:30 NBC
Last year's game....WOW.  Gutsy, heart wrenching call on the last play of the game.  Heck it even put Coach Dantonio in the hospital. When Michigan State and Notre Dame get together, good games occur. The famed 1966 battle was even dubbed the game of the Century.  Last year's game was just one of many classics in this rivalry.  Michigan State always seems to be a contender in September and this game goes a long way in deciding how their seasons goes.  Lately, Notre Dame has not been off to any hot starts  This game is usually big for them. Chances of Brian Kelly screaming in his player's faces again? Pretty good.  I'm going to tune in just to see that.

3. Eagles at Falcons Sunday 8:20 NBC
Well here it is, Michael Vick's return to Atlanta.  Get your popcorn ready.  This is a game that features two Super Bowl contenders, that alone should be worth tuning in.  The fact that Atlanta's former most popular athlete is returning is another reason to watch. Vick went up in flames in Atlanta.  It was bad.  He's reinvented himself and is at the top of his game.  The Eagles offense can fly, and Matt Ryan runs a pretty good show in Atlanta.  Very good game.

2. Ohio State at Miami Saturday 7:30 ESPN

Ahh, the game that should simply be known as, "The Integrity Bowl."  The Buckeyes met the Canes in the Championship way back in 2002, and many of those guys went on to be pretty good NFL players.  I just wonder if they had to take a paycut after leaving OSU and Miami?   This game has lost its luster, because well, suspensions happened, Tressel got fired, and Terrelle Pryor is now on the Oakland Raiders. But other than that the game will feature some good athletes. Jacory Harris will be making his season debut for the Hurricanes, as they come off a tough loss to Maryland.  And OSU almost lost to....Toledo!?  Ohhh how the mighty have fallen.  I'm going to watch because these are two programs I don't mind that they are suffering

1. Oklahoma at Florida State Saturday 8:00 ABC

Nothing like a Top 5 Game to highlight the weekend.  Oklahoma has a high powered offense that absolutely destroyed the 'Noles last season. That was in Norman.  This game is in Tallahassee. There is a buzz back surrounding the FSU program.  They are winning recruiting battles left and right, and they are ready for primetime again. This game has big, big, big National Championship implications.  Both teams are capable of getting there, but one will be eliminated from contention on Saturday night. And damn this is one of the most bad ass traditions in college football...
