Couch Potato's Guide September 29-October 3

10. Air Force at Navy Saturday 12:00 CBS
Doesn't quite have the same ring as Army Navy, but this is actually the better game from a Football standpoint. Air Force runs that same offense as Navy and on some seasons, they run it better.  Kudos to CBS for televising the game, Army-Navy is a given game on TV, but Air Force guys sacrifice a lot too and sometimes are overlooked. They are battling for that Commander in Chief Trophy also. And they are the current holder's of the trophy.

9. Northwestern at Illinois Saturday 12:00 ESPN2
Wait the game isn't a Wrigley Field? Forget this, I'm not watching.  Ehh I might.  Illinois is 4-0 and could just be a factor in the Big Ten.  Northwestern is coming off a loss to Army.  Thats not like the Wildcats as they have been a real solid team the past few years.  I am bummed about the no Wrigley Field thing....I mean I guess this was the issue...Ok, fair enough.

8. Michigan State at Ohio State Saturday 3:30 ABC
I guess I'm sticking with the Big Ten theme this week, hope you like boring Football.  Sparty lost to Notre Dame, but still can be a factor in some big games, and Ohio State is Ohio State.  They'll come out and play you tough, even though they are down.  The Buckeyes have a QB shuffle happening, while MSU has a very steady QB that you should check out.  He may not be a top flight draft pick, but he will stick around in the NFL.

7. Steelers at Texans Sunday 1:00 CBS
This actually will be one of the better NFL games this week.  Houston looks good right now. Schaub and Andre Johnson are lethal, the defense can hold its own now, and of course!!! Peyton Manning isn't playing.  I think Houston will break through in the playoffs, and a team that may come up down the line are these Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Black and Gold are struggling right now, but still when you break it down, they are a top 3 AFC team until proven otherwise.  Plus you can't miss Mike Wallace, without a doubt one of the most underrated players in the league. Well maybe you can miss him, he's that fast.

6. Auburn at South Carolina Saturday 3:30 CBS
Just another one of those weekly grudge matches between SEC powers.  No big deal. Auburn is a lucky team to say the least. They escaped wins last year, and have been this year.  They got caught finally, but they always seem to make any game interesting.  The Ole Ball Coach has perhaps his best team ever at South Carolina, but will they make that transition from an 8-4 team at best, to elite championship contender? These types of games will tell you.

5. Texas A&M at Arkansas Saturday 12:00 ESPN
Hmm another huge non conference college football battle at Jerry Jones' palace....Whats up with this?  As for the game, it should be a good one.  Both teams had tough losses to good teams last week, and neither one wants to drop two in a row.  Ryan Tannehill for A&M is a very exciting player, and is just plain fun to watch. Arkansas has an exciting offense also. Both are top 25 teams, and this is the best Noon game of the day, wake up and watch Corso put on a giant Badger head, and watch the game.  Not a bad Saturday morning.

4. Jets at Ravens Sunday 8:20 NBC
The two teams that just can't seem to take the next step.  Both are forces in the AFC, yet they haven't proven it all in the playoffs.  This is a good showcase game for both teams.  Both are capable Super Bowl contenders, led by prize defenses.  But on a scheduling note, How is ESPN letting Sunday Night Football get better games the Monday Night Football.  I'm forced to watch these Sunday Night games now, and get a large dose of Chris Collinsworth......Not what I need before a Monday morning. I mean seriously.....

3. Clemson at Virginia Tech Saturday 6:00 ESPN2
Clemson, 4-0?  Yeah their collapse should start very soon.  But they should ride this out as long as possible.  Va Tech hasn't played anyone, and has remained eerily quiet through four weeks.  I mean, has anyone heard what has been happening in Blacksburg? I just know they haven't lost yet, Clemson hasn't either, and they are both ranked and Virginia Tech has the best entrance for any sports team on any level. Period. No doubt about it.   Enjoy.

2. Alabama at Florida Saturday 8:00 CBS
Saturday Night in the Swamp, Nick Saban coming to town, two undefeated teams, How is there a game in a week better than this?  This game is huge, and this game will be great to watch. Florida really has some speed burners on offense, and Alabama has a lights out defense. Will Muschamp gets his first epic test as a head coach, and I think he is ready for it.  Write it down, Florida is pulling the upset and knocking of the Tide.  You will not be disappointed in the least.  But what could be better than this?
.......

1. Nebraska at Wisconsin Saturday 8:00 ABC
Gameday is in town. Nebraska will play their Big Ten game, and both teams are really good.  You hear a lot about the "Sea of Red" when these teams play, but what happens when they play each other? An Ocean of Red?  It might be.  Nebraska has a tough QB in Taylor Martinez and the dude can really play.  But Wisconsin has a guy named Russell Wilson and he's the toast of Madison right now.  Slowly, but surely the Badger Bandwagon is filling up.  How could it not be?  They have it all, but they get the first chance to see it run against a good team.  I am really looking forward to this one.  You know Camp Randall will be absolutely rocking. Enjoy the Weekend!
